Golden Hour

Golden Hour is a welcoming senior social that meets twice a month on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30 AM, offering relaxed activities, learning opportunities, and time to connect with others.

Golden Hour meets at the Barrington Parks & Recreation Community Center at 105 Ramsdell Lane. This is a free program; however, we do accept donations for light refreshments & supplies that are needed. Some programs may require a fee due to other costs associated and will be noted. 

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Wednesday, August 19: S.E.A.T. w/ Joe Mone
Supported Exercise for Ageless Training (S.E.A.T.) is a chair based workout that provides a low impact, high-energy challenge for participants of all ages, skill, and fitness levels. Joe is an energetic instructor who always has the best music for his classes. You'll be smiling, laughing, and having so much fun you won't even realize you're working out! An hour of S.E.A.T., followed by light refreshments and good company!

Wednesday, September 9: Internet Best Practice & Security w/ Will Lenharth
Join Will for a welcoming and informative morning on Internet best practice and security, offering helpful insights into today's online environment. The presentation will be following by light refreshments and good company!

Wednesday, September 23: Guided Nature Walk w/ Brittany Carr
Join us for a low impact and mindful guided nature walk with Brittany Carr at the North River Preserve in Nottingham, NH. Tap into your senses and take in the natural world around you while gently moving your body and connecting with others. The North River Preserve is conservation land maintained by Bear-Paw Regional Greenways. We will end the walk with tea and snacks. 
Transportation available if needed, let us know during registration- limited seats available. You are welcome to drive yourself and meet us there as well! 

October 7: Barrington Historical Society
Join us for a presentation and discussion with the Barrington Historical Society! Learn fun and interesting facts about the post offices and mills that were in town and more about our little town you may not have known, and ask questions you have been wondering. Light refreshments will be provided.

October 21: Acrylic Wood Painting w/ Brittany Carr
Come flex your creative muscles and be guided and instructed through an acrylic painting class, on a multi-functional wood piece. Follow the design we are doing, or go on your own creative journey. All levels of artists are welcome, especially beginners!Light refreshments will be provided. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED- Limited seats.

November 4: Castle Anam Cara of Barrington
Learn about a unique Barrington landmark you may not be aware of... Castle Anam Cara! David and Loretta O’Connor, the owners of this one of a kind home, will be giving a presentation about how it came to be, their stone circle, activities they host, what they grow and more. Light refreshments will be provided.

November 18: "Medicare Basics" with Lynne Ganley
Licensed and Certified Medicare Plan Advisor
As a former educator, it's important to Lynne that seniors and almost-seniors understand how Medicare works so they can get the most out of their Medicare benefits. Lynne will go over the different Medicare options available to Barrington residents, as well as additional, lesser-known support options. Lynne will also include some "Medicare Secrets" and reveal parts of Medicare that many seniors don't realize even exist. Light refreshments will be provided.


December 2: Holiday Card Making & Cocoa Bar
Sometimes the best gift is a thoughtful note made from the heart- make holiday cards for friends and family to spread holiday cheer and ring in the new year. Light refreshments and a cocoa bar will be provided. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED- limited seats.

December 16: Holiday Brunch
Barrington Parks & Rec and Barrington's finest welcome you for a festive holiday brunch! Our Police & Fire departments will be serving up a delicious brunch for you all to enjoy and celebrate the holiday season. Table prizes, raffles, photo op and holiday cheer will be taking place! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED- limited seats, $15.00/pp.
