The Town of Barrington Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to offer two (2) scholarships. One scholarship totaling $3,000 and the second totaling $2,000 to a high school senior accepted at a college or university, or a current college student continuing their education. The scholarship program is funded as a result of successful participation in various recreation programs offered by the Town of Barrington Parks & Recreation Department.The following criteria will be used to select the recipient of this award: Applicant maintains a permanent residence in the Town of Barrington. Applicant demonstrates a clear intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a credited institute. Applicant is a high school senior or college student in good standing status with their respective high school or college at the time of application and award. Applicants should possess a GPA of “B” or higher. Applicants having pending disciplinary matters or outstanding unpaid fines are considered not in good standing. Applicant has not been previously awarded this scholarship. If in question, the decision of good standing status is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. The following is the Policy for Award: Two (2) scholarships will be awarded per academic school year. The first scholarship is for a total of $3,000 with the second totaling $2,000. Scholarships will be presented to the recipients and then mailed to the college or university for the second semester. If an applicant does not receive the scholarship, they are eligible to apply again in subsequent years. The scholarship committee reserves the right to not award a scholarship in any given year if the group of applicants does not adequately meet the criteria. Town of Barrington employees and their relatives are eligible, except full-time Recreation Department employees & Recreation Commission members and their relatives. The following documents must be received to be considered eligible:Please note that it is the applicant’s responsibility to provide all required documents. We will not contact you for missing portions of application paperwork. All paperwork must be received by the deadline in order to be an eligible recipient.  Town of Barrington Parks & Recreation Scholarship Form Confirmation of acceptance and /or attendance at the college or, proof of enrollment. Join us for one of Barrington’s favorite spring traditions: the Annual Egg Hunt, hosted in partnership with the Barrington Public Library! This year, we’re excited to celebrate inside the new Library building! Families are invited to explore the space while children search for colorful eggs, meet the Parks & Recreation and Library teams, and enjoy fun along the way. This event is designed for children of all ages and offers a welcoming, festive environment to kick off the spring season.More details to come, registration is required and will be available on the Library's website!

The Basketball program provides youth in grades Pre-K to 8th the opportunity to learn the sport of basketball. PreK-2nd grade participants will be taught fundamentals of the game through skills session composed of fun drills and brief scrimmages. 3rd-8th grade participants participate in the Southeast NH Recreational Travel Basketball League, where teams will practice and play games against opponents in the league. Emphasis is placed upon recreation philosophies including teamwork and sportsmanship at all levels.Shooting Stars: *Shooting Stars PreK basketball will not be offered for the 2026 season due to construction going on at the Recreation Department; Shooting Stars will return in 2027!Small Shots: 5 year old program for children in the Kindergarten age group.Grades 1-2 Session A: Earlier option for the 1st & 2nd grade Saturday morning program; will run from 9:45am-10:45am.Grades 1-2 Session B: Later option for the 1st & 2nd grade Saturday morning program; will run from 11:00am-12:00pm.Grades 3-8: Girls and Boys travel rec basketball! 7 weeks of games with a jamboree to send off the season. Drop-In Basketball: Early Spring option for more basketball. Each Saturday, you can choose if you'd like to join us at the Rec Department for some added drills & games. Offered in two separate sessions; one age group will consist of 3rd & 4th graders and the other will be 5th-8th graders. Pay ahead of time to secure a spot. Offerings may include group hikes, guided mindfulness and meditation, sensory-focused activities, calming tea moments, and opportunities to tune into yourself and your surroundings.Each program is thoughtfully crafted to help you move your body, quiet your mind, and cultivate a deeper sense of balance — whether we’re indoors, outdoors, or somewhere in between. Join us as we explore meaningful ways to nurture wellness in everyday life. Wednesdays, April 8, 15, 22, May 6, 13, 20  - Mindful MeandersRecharge your week with a peaceful escape into nature. Enjoy walking our local trails followed by a guided meditation and tea, connecting with community and the outdoors. Led by certified Forest Therapy Guide Brittany Carr of Rooting in Nature, this is a gentle, restorative way to start your day or take a mindful midweek break. The hike starts at 9:00AM, but if you’re joining via van, we’ll depart at 8:45AM. You’re welcome to meet us at the trailhead, just bring something to sit on if you’d like, and note a few locations have limited parking.

The hike starts at 9:00AM, but if you’re joining via van, we’ll depart at 8:45AM.
